FAQ's

What is slip and slide kickball? Slip and slide kickball is a hybrid of the normal games played by Kickball STL. Genrally the rules are the same, however, the basepaths are lined with slip and slide tarps, and the bases are swimming pools. Base runners must be touching the outside of the pool (or be in the pool) in order to be delcared safe.

What Kind Of Ball Is Used? A normal kickball is not used, it's more similiar to a beach ball (with a little more weight to it)

How is the tournament set up? The tournament winner will be decided by points. A win will be worth 10 points, a loss is worth -10. Every run scored is worth 3 points, and every run allowed is -3 points. Each team will participate in 2 games, 9 innings each.

Why can't teams play more than 2 games? Hosting this event is very expensive. From the facility rental to the equipment needed, it's not finnacially possible to host a double elimination, round robin, or even a traditional single elimination tournament. Kickball STL has "crunched" the numbers and has determined that the 2 game structure, along with the commemorative t-shirt and free lunch afterwards brings significant value for $30.00 per player.

Is there a risk of injury: Just like with any sport, injury is always a possibility. With that said, Kickball STL has chosen to host the event at St. Louis Soccer Park; due to the fact that their fields are made of "Field Turf", which provides an ergonomic playing surface that is more condusive to falls. In addition to the "soft" surface, rocks and field debris are also a non-issue. All players will be required to sign a release of liabilty form upon check in at the fields.
